In today's world where 3D technologies are becoming more and more important, Long-range 3D scanning technology has opened the door to various applications in the field of mining, surveying, piping, oil and gas, heritage preservation and many other.
With this technology, we can re-produce design documentation data for buildings and facilities needed for renovation, modification or addition of equipment and not have old legacy data.
We use faro focus 3D and Leica C10 scanner to collect large scale areas and structures, such as process plants, large civil/mechanical structures, power plants, buildings, factories, marine ships & crime scene forensics to name a few.
A long range laser scanner captures object visible surface with a huge number of points called point cloud data. For example to scan process plant site size in 10000sq. meters, based on a conjunction of equipment's, piping and other elements, it required a number of scanning positions to capture the entire shape of objects. After capturing data from various positions, using point cloud capturing & merging software's such as Faro scene & Polyworks or Geomagic, the data is converted to 3D modeling software for measurement and further design processing.
